Community Activity Day

Come along and try an exciting range of activities and challenges ALL FOR FREE!

Fun for all the family, our action-packed Community Day is an opportunity to try new sports; enjoy our outdoor activities which include a rock climbing wall, zip-wire and inflatables; and hear from physio and sport science specialists – all while making use of our world class facilities.   • Race an Olympic swimmer in our new London 2012 Legacy Pool
  • Participate in our annual Olympic Day Run (5km adults, 3km U16s)
  • Undergo our Modern Pentathlon Challenge – swimming, running, fencing, riding and pistol (water) shooting
  • Try a taster dance class led by professional choreographers at our new arts complex – The Edge
  • Attend FREE tennis lessons from qualified coaches
  • Have a go on our bobsleigh push-start track – the only one in the country!

Olympic Day Run

Our popular annual event returns to the STV. Open to runners of all ages, our Olympic Day Run will feature a 5km run for adults and 3km run for under-16s.

The Olympic Day Run is subject to registration. To apply for to be involved in the run, and/or to apply for your child(ren) to be involved, submit our application form: Olympic Day Run Application Form

FREE dance classes from professional dancers and choreographers

Our new arts complex The Edge will host various dance classes for all the family. At 1.30pm and 2.30pm dancer and choreographer Hannily Bendell will lead 30 minute ballet fitness sessions great for posture, strength and improving balance.

At 2pm and 3pm movement-based session Moving with all the Family will run, offering visitors of all ages to explore and play with touch and find new connections with dance artist Lee Bolton.

Tennis lessons from our academy coaches

The University of Bath’s sports department will open its doors to friends, family and the public with a view to playing tennis for FREE. Tennis sessions expected to run are Mini Tennis, Cardio Tennis and Free Play sessions.

Try out our unique bobsleigh push-start track

It might be the beginning of summer, but you don’t need sub-zero conditions to train as a bobsledder – just ask the Jamaicans! The STV’s bobsleigh push-start track is open for over 18s to experience what it’s like to train as a Winter Olympian with three sessions throughout the day open for action.

The exciting day will also feature coaching sessions from our team of leading coaches including sessions on badminton, netball, trampolining, athletic, hockey, rugby and football.

And when you’re worn out from all of the day’s activities, our expert physiotherapists, nutritionists and sport scientists are on-hand to provide guidance, advice and support for sustaining a healthy lifestyle as an athlete.
