Talent Development Centre student paddles to victory
Seventeen year old Scott Finch is not your usual student. Scott trains 14 times a week in a sport he loves, a sport which has seen him win the title of British Champion for two years running and compete in an international arena.
Scott is the two time British Champion for Wild Water Kayaking, common known as whitewater kayaking, at both Junior and Senior level, and this summer he will be travelling across Europe to take part in in the European and World Championships in the hope of adding another medal to his already extensive collection.
Scott is also a member of the Team GB squad for Wild Water Kayaking, and is part of the Talent ID programme at the University of Bath, so he spends lots of time training in the water and in fitness sessions at the University’s Training Village.
WAKO British Championships
Sunday 17 February 2013 Josepha Garrett-Hollows finished second in the Girls under 32kg Division at the WAKO British Championships (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations).
She had three amazing fights against the best girls in the country. She ultimately lost to the reigning title holder by only one point after two rounds, one extra time round and two sudden death rounds.
Josepha has been invited to train with the WAKO GB Squad for 2013 with a view to representing her country in Poland at the European Championships in September.
We are very proud of her amazing efforts and the fantastic work put in by all her coaches that keep her on the winning track.
Judo bronze medal and England squad
Kye Orledge won a bronze medal on Saturday 2 February 2013 in Birmingham at the Midlands Area Open.
He has made it into the England judo squad due to his bronze medal at the Great Britain judo championships in January and all the medals he also took at recent events back in 2012.
Kye now has the honour of wearing the England rose on his judo suit something he’s very proud of…
Judo player Charlotte Emery fought at the Junior British Championship and camp on Saturday 19 January (under 21 age band and under 52 kg weight group).
She came third winning four fights out of a total of five achieving bronze along with a fellow Team Bath member Freya de Chasterlain.
Charlotte has been awarded a place on the junior Great Britain squad.
Congratulations Charlotte from all at Team Bath.
