Women’s bobsleigh crew place a creditable ninth at Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games

21 February 2006

The British women’s bobsleigh pairing of Nicola Minichiello and Jackie Davies finished out of the medals in a creditable ninth place at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games.

The pair, who train on the same push-start track at the University of Bath as the already successful British bob-skeleton team at the Games, went into the second final day of the event in sixth place overall.

But they dropped down to eighth after this afternoon’s third run of the competition and finished ninth overall after the fourth and final run – missing the opportunity to emulate the silver medal won by skeleton slider Shelley Rudman in Torino.

Gold went to the German pairing Sandra Kiriasis and Anja Schneiderheinze.

The University of Bath has one of the leading university sports departments in the UK. Under its Team Bath brand, its success is based on the expertise and dedication of staff, and its excellent facilities, used by the community and Olympic medal winners alike.
