Tennis ace Gabb at the double

Team Bath Tennis Academy player Richard Gabb is celebrating after winning a brace of national titles at under-18 level.

Gabb won both the boys’ singles and the boys’ doubles titles at the AEGON British Junior Under-18 National Championships at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

Seeded five for the singles, he beat sixth seed Lewis Burton in straights sets 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 to win the final. He had earlier despatched number four seed Tom Allen 7-5, 6-2 in the quarter-finals and then former Team Bath Tennis Academy player Ashley Hewitt, the number two seed, 6-2, 6-2 in the semis.

Gabb teamed up with Hewitt in the boys’ doubles. The number two seeds beat top seeds Lewis Burton and George Morgan 6-2, 6-4 in the final to win take the title.
