Semi-finals for Coles
University of Bath student Chris Coles reached the semi-final of the men’s doubles competition at the weekend’s English National Badminton Championships.
The 18-year-old Sports Performance student reached the semis partnering Matt Nottingham before going down 21-10, 21-17 to the more experienced number two seeds Chris Adcock and Andy Ellis.
Coles (pictured), who is supported by a Jeff Trendell Scholarship, also reached the mixed doubles quarter-finals with Jessica Fletcher.
Psychology graduate Rachel Howard, who trains at the University of Bath, made a quarter-final exit in the women’s singles.
University of Bath graduate Carl Baxter was runner-up in the men’s singles, while the women’s doubles pairing of Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver lost in the women’s doubles final. The trio are all University of Bath Coach Education and Sports Development graduates.
