GB internationals due to lead BUCS challenge

Senior Great Britain internationals Danny Talbot and Sophie Skinner will feature for the University of Bath in this weekend’s British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Indoor Athletics Championships.

Sports Performance student Talbot represented Great Britain at last month’s Aviva International in Glasgow, finishing third over 200m and then ran a pb of 20.89 seconds to win the 200m at the European Trials and UK Championships in Sheffield at the weekend. He is coached by Dan Cossins.

Sport and Exercise Science student Skinner contests the 60m hurdles, the shot and is a member of the University’s 4×200m relay squad for the BUCS championships. She is coached by Colin Bovell, the University’s head track and field coach, and finished 12th in last month’s Combined Events International in Reims, France.

German jumper Rainer Groh, who is studying for a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Bath, contests the men’s long jump, while Sport and Exercise Science student Kim Murray, who finished third at the European Trial and UK Championships at the weekend with a pb of 6.11, goes in the women’s event and is a member of the relay team.

Meanwhile, the University of Bath women’s team came third and the men came fifth at an Inter-Varsity indoor match at Birmingham.
