The latest Team Bath athletes of the month award winners have been presented with their awards.

Bath Intensive Training Centre swimmers Michael Jamieson and Anne Bochmann received the joint awards for November and December, with pistol shooter Kristian Callaghan collecting the men’s January award. Netballer Pamela Cookey was winner of the women’s award for January but could not attend the ceremony.

The Team Bath athlete of the month awards are sponsored by Oakley and Ellis and Killpatrick Opticians of New Bond Street in Bath. Each winner receives a piece of Oakley eyewear from Ellis and Killpatrick Opticians and a framed certificate.

Michael collected his award after another string of impressive performances. They included winning silver in the 200m breaststroke at the World Short Course Championships and taking a hat-trick of titles at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Short Course Championships.

Michael, a Sports Performance student and ITC swimming scholar, was also runner-up in the BBC’s Superstars programme, which was filmed at the University of Bath.

Anne’s award followed impressive performances at the BUCS Short Course Championships, where she won gold in the 200m freestyle as well as silver and bronze relay medals.  Anne is a Pharmacy student at the University and receives a Santander Bath ITC Scholarship.

Kristian received his award after winning a gold and a bronze medal for Great Britain at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney last month. Kristian is a Bath TASS athlete and is studying for a Mechanical Engineering degree.

Pamela, a University of Bath Business Administration graduate, won her award after captaining England to a landmark 3-0 series victory over world champions Australia and helping Team Bath kick off their season by winning the FastNet Grand Prix title for the first time.

Chris Barrington, a Partner at Ellis and Killpatrick Opticians, presented the awards. He said: “It’s fantastic to see such a breadth of sporting talent at the University of Bath and we’re delighted to be associated with the awards.”
