French test for rugby players as Bath quartet named in Wales Students squad

15 April 2015

Four University of Bath Rugby Club players have been named in the Wales Students squad to face France Universities this weekend.

Students Mike Perks (Sports Performance, third year), Alex Humfrey (Chemical Engineering), Michael Snook (Chemistry, second year) and Derryn Jones (Sport and Exercise Science) have all been selected for Saturday’s match at Stade Paul Chandon in Epernay.

University of Bath Head of Rugby Aaron James, pictured, said: “We are proud to see these players selected.

“It is just reward for their commitment and performances for University of Bath Rugby Club this year. In particular it is a great achievement for Derryn and Alex, who are first-year students.”

Forwards Snook and Jones also played for Wales Students against British Police last month and all four will be looking to impress ahead of a home match against England on May 6.

It is the toughest fixture list since the Wales Students team was re-established three years ago in conjunction with the Welsh Rugby Union as a key part of the WRU pathway for identifying and developing talent.
