Opportunity for new Team Bath Netball coaching role as Emily Perry moves on
Team Bath Netball assistant coach Emily Perry is moving on to a new post as Head Pathway Coach at Loughborough after over a decade with the University of Bath franchise.
Perry, 30, moved from playing and coaching in Essex to study at Bath in 2006, graduating with a BA Hons in Coach Education and Sports Development in 2009.
Having qualified as a Level 3 coach in the same year, Emily went on to work for England Netball South West as a regional coach.
Since 2006 she has also coached at all levels of Team Bath – from the community club based on the University campus, the University’s BUCS team, through to National Talent League and other development squads before becoming Assistant Coach to Team Bath’s Superleague squad. She was also Head Coach of the INTC at Bath.
More recently, Emily answered a call from England Netball to step into the role of England U21 coach and her squad overcame the odds to win World Youth Cup bronze in Botswana last month despite severe sickness in the squad throughout the tournament.
“We are immensely proud of Emily and all that she has achieved whilst part of our Team Bath family”, said the University of Bath Director of Netball, Jess Thirlby.
“We wish her well in her new role and know that she has a bright future. She has made a huge contribution to Team Bath and has been respected by coaches and players alike throughout her development as a coach here”.
Perry said: “I am very, very sad to be leaving Team Bath but I’m excited to be working with new people and outside of my comfort zone.
“I wouldn’t be the coach that I am without Team Bath. I’ve been extremely fortunate to move through from being a community coach to a performance coach in an environment which is truly world class.
“Team Bath will always have a special place for me. It’s been my foundation, my roots, my everything. Everything that I have learnt there has helped me in the U21 role, which was also outside of my comfort zone, and I’m sure it will help me in the future. I am eternally grateful to everyone at Team Bath for everything”.
The World Youth Cup bronze this year was England’s best result at this tournament since 2005. Defeated after tense battle with Australia in the semi-finals, England went on to take bronze in the play-off against Fiji.
Team Bath players Imogen Allison, supported by a King Sporting Scholarship, at the University of Bath and Jess Shaw both played in that bronze medal encounter.
Team Bath have now have a vacancy for its own Academy Coach with an exciting pathway structure now in place in Bristol and Exeter with hubs planned in Truro, Plymouth and Dorset.
