Kinder & Farrant feature for England under-21s

24 May 2010

Team Bath Buccaneers Jonny Kinder and George Farrant both featured in the England under-21 team that finished runners-up in hockey’s Junior Open Challenge in Poland.

The pair both played in all four of England’s contests in the tournament, which took place at Siemianowice.

England finished second to Germany in the round robin phase of the competition, going down 4-2 to Germany, before beating Poland 3-2 and France 5-1. That set up a final match against Germany, which the Germans won 3-2.

Both Kinder and Farrant were members of the Team Bath Buccs team that were crowned England Hockey League Conference West champions this season, winning the title by 19 points.

Kinder, a University of Bath Sports Performance student, features on the shortlist on England Hockey’s male young performance players of the season award. The winner is announced next month.

The University of Bath has one of the leading university sports departments in the UK. Under its TeamBath brand, its success is based on the expertise and dedication of staff, and its excellent facilities, used by the community and Olympic medal winners alike.
