University of Bath alumni Deborah Fleming, Sydney Gregson (pictured) and Amy Wilson Hardy have been named in an extended Great Britain women’s rugby 7s squad ahead of this summer’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Wilson Hardy, who studied Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Engineering (IMEE), is hoping to compete in her second Games having represented Team GB at Rio 2016.

She was also part of the England team that won bronze at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, along with Sport & Social Sciences graduate Fleming who played netball and athletics during her time at the University before switching to rugby.

Fleming is hoping to make her Olympic debut this summer, as is Sports Performance graduate Gregson who was supported by a Trendell Sports Scholarship while studying at Bath.

The 24-strong GB squad are training in Edinburgh this week and have further camps in Wales and England during April before the squad is narrowed down to a final 13 in July for the Tokyo Games.
