Johnson wins World Championships bronze

University of Bath-based swimmer Liz Johnson has won a bronze medal at the IPC Swimming World Championships in Holland. The 25-year-old swimmer came home third in the SB6 100m breaststroke final in Eindhoven last night (Monday). Gold went to America’s Mallory Weggemann in a world record time of 1:35.51, with Britain’s Charlotte Henshaw taking silver, just 0.14 seconds ahead of Johnson, who came home in 1:39.88. Team Bath Tennis Academy player Richard Gabb is celebrating after winning a brace of national titles at under-18 level. Gabb won both the boys’ singles and the boys’ doubles titles at the AEGON British Junior Under-18 National Championships at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. Team Bath’s tennis players have clocked up a trio of national titles in two years. The boys U18 squad picked up the Aegon National Junior Club League title at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton last weekend to add to titles previously won in the U16 boys and U16 girls age-groups. Britain’s Freyja Prentice won the individual silver medal and helped Great Britain capture team gold at the modern pentathlon World Junior Championships in Hungary today (Saturday).
