BBC One’s Superstars 2012 one-off Olympic special was screened on Saturday 29 December. Rowing trio are honoured

Athletes with strong University of Bath links had their London 2012 successes recognised in the New Year’s Honours List, which was announced this morning (Saturday). Rowers Heather Stanning, Helen Glover and Dave Smith were made MBEs in the list. Stanning, a University of Bath Sports Technology graduate, and Glover, teamed up to win Britain’s first gold medal of the London 2012 Olympics and became the first ever GB women’s crew to win Olympic rowing gold....

New artwork provides added inspiration to athletes

A new piece of artwork is providing some extra inspiration for athletes training in the Performance Gym at the Sports Training Village. Artist Mark Crowther, founder and creative director of Soulful Creative, designed and painted the abstract piece on the wall of the gym, which is used by world-class athletes who train at the University. University of Bath student Tom Dunn made his senior debut for Bath Rugby in the Amlin Challenge cup against Italian side Calvisano. The second year Sports Performance student came on as a replacement for hooker Brett Sharman and helped his side to an impressive 67-11 victory, their biggest European home win.

Nartey and Stanning collect Army awards

There was an impressive double for past and present University of Bath based athletes at the annual Army Sports Awards, with judo player Emmanuel Nartey and rower Heather Stanning winning two of the top awards. Meet Mala Star – our new netball mascot

Team Bath’s netballers have a new mascot for their 2013 Superleague campaign – thanks to two young fans. A star shaped figure called Banyo Mala and coloured in Team Bath’s traditional blue and yellow will be out and about at next season’s home Superleague fixtures.
