Sports Training Village accessibility

The Team Bath Sports Training Village (STV) is fully accessible to members of the disabled community, with wheelchair access routes and clear signposting throughout the building.

As well as being home to the hugely-successful Great Britain wheelchair fencing team, the STV has hosted such major disability sport events as the Invictus Games Trials, Special Olympics and ParalympicsGB training camps.

Visiting the Sports Training Village

Both main entry points to the STV – the front entrance on Convocation Avenue and the rear entrance through the Sports Café – are step-free.

Within the building there are lifts wherever there is a change of level. These are located by the stairs to main reception; by the indoor sprint track; at the entrance to the Performance Hub (formerly the Jumps & Throws Hall); and by the swimming pool changing room (to upper floor only). Wheelchair access to the second floor of Gym 2 can also be found by the stairs to main reception.

Getting active

There is wheelchair access to all facilities within the building including the Team Bath Gym & Fitness Centre, sports hall, tennis courts, athletics tracks (indoor and outdoor), judo dojo, pentathlon hall and Physio & Sport Science Centre.

Our Team Bath fitness instructors run dozens of exercise classes every week, click here to view the latest timetable. Please contact Health & Fitness Manager Sam Holmes at sh931@bath.ac.uk to discuss the content of the classes and how they can be adapted.

There is a hoist for wheelchair users to access the water in the hydro-pool. There is no hoist into the 50m swimming pool but there is step-free access to poolside from the changing room. Wheelchairs and walking aids can be left poolside.

Parking and transport

There are disabled parking spaces in all campus car parks, with the closest to the STV being located in Car Park G in the South car park. There is a ground-level access route directly to reception – please call 01225 386339 and our reception staff can direct you. Car Park E in the East car park is the best alternative car park for wheelchair users.

If you have a Blue Badge, you can use disabled parking spaces free of charge. Staff should display an Exempt permit and Blue Badge when parked in disabled spaces.

The STV is located just 150m from the bus terminus in Arrivals Square and there is a taxi drop-off point outside the building on Convocation Avenue. Click here for more details of how to get to the STV.
