England’s badminton team spent time honing their Commonwealth Games preparations at the University of Bath Sports Training Village. The 10-strong team held a training camp at the Sports Training Village ahead of their trip to Delhi for the Games. Three members of the team were on particularly familiar territory – Mariana Agathangelou (pictured), Carl Baxter and Heather Olver are all University of Bath graduates and are set to make their Commonwealth Games debuts in Delhi....

British women win World Champs team silver

The University of Bath-based Britain women’s modern pentathlon team today (Saturday) won the team silver medal at the World Championships in China. Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist Heather Fell was the highest placed British finisher in the individual competition in eighth. Team-mate Freyja Prentice, aged 20, produced the third fastest run/shoot of the day, climbing from 16th going into the run/shoot to end the day in a creditable ninth.
