Trio win European Junior gold

University of Bath student Freyja Prentice and graduates Kate French and Lydia Rosling are celebrating winning the first gold medal of the European Junior Championships in Poland. The GB trio won the women's team relay gold at Drzonkow at yesterday's (Monday) opening day of the championships. University of Bath student Louise Hunt and partner Lucy Shuker have won back-to-back wheelchair tennis women’s doubles titles in North America. A week ago the British pair won the TennisCanada International in Montreal, beating Shelby Baron (USA) and Kgothatso Montjane (RSA) 6-1, 6-1 in the final of Hunt’s first North American tournament. Staff, students and athletes at the University of Bath have paid tribute to Bath’s newest World Champion at a reception for Dai Greene today (Tuesday). Two University of Bath-based athletes have been named in a national newspaper’s list of Britain’s top-50 contenders for gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Paul Blake is ranked at number 18 in The Guardian’s top-50 list, with Katrina Hart ranked at 37. Blake struck gold in the T36 400m competing at his first World Championships in January this year. University of Bath-based Dai Greene produced an outstanding performance to strike 400m hurdles gold at the World Championships in South Korea today (Thursday).
