Biography:

A former 400m runner, Bruce took up bobsleigh in 2010 and was one of the brakemen in the GB crew finishing fifth at the 2013 World Championships. He went on to achieve the same placing at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games with John Jackson, Stuart Benson and Joel Fearon before being upgraded to a bronze medal after two Russian crews were disqualified for doping infringements.

Having started as a push athlete, Bruce went on to become a pilot, making history at the 2016 World Championships when he drove Fearon to a fourth-place finish in the 2-man competition – Great Britain’s best World Championship result in that discipline for fully 50 years.

Bruce suffered a stroke in January 2018 and was forced to miss the PyeongChang Olympics as a result. He called time on his sliding career in October of that year but has now taken on coaching duties with the BBSA.
