Since moving his training base to the University of Bath in early 2015, Piers has enjoyed incredible success including Category A epee silver at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and the first World Championships gold of his career in 2019.

He has been on the podium on multiple other occasions at the World Championships, European Championships and on the IWASF World Cup circuit, and has ranked number one in the world for five consecutive years.

Piers first tried wheelchair fencing in 2010 and was selected to make his international debut two years later. He was part of the BPA’s Paralympic Inspiration Programme for London 2012 and went on to be crowned Junior World Champion in 2013.

Piers’ brother Miles is a ballet dancer with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
