We will step up our game, says Thirlby

After the previous weekend’s win against Northumbria, Team Bath struggled to find their feet against an in-form Manchester Thunder on Saturday in netball’s Superleague.

The opening quarter was fiercely contested with Team Bath going down by just one goal 10-11 to the reigning champions.

“We started well and stuck to the game plan, making them work hard in on their attack whilst we were patient and clinical”,, said Head Coach Thirlby.

A very poor second quarter saw Team Bath go in 14-25 down at half-time.  From there it was a rear-guard action with Thunder taking the win 51-32.

“It was truly an uphill task from there as we lacked discipline and didn’t create enough opportunities at goal in that second quarter.

“We have already made some changes and we know we are good enough” said Thirlby of her new-look and potentially exciting line-up who face another tough match this evening at home against Surrey Storm, led by former Team Bath player Tamsin Greenway.

“We will step up our game and will move on”, added Thirlby.

Tonight’s match looks like being a sell-out with almost 2000 people having already bought tickets.
