Team Bath Netball’s Claire Brownie and Kyra Jones get World Cup call

30 June 2015

Team Bath Netball will have three players at the Netball World Cup this summer after Claire Brownie and Kyra Jones were named in the Scotland and Wales squads respectively.

Wing-defence Brownie will be vice-captain of the Scottish Thistles when they compete in Sydney, Australia from August 7-16.

And centre Jones – who, like Brownie, has just completed her debut season at the Sports Training Village – had her place in the Wales squad confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Scotland’s first match at the Netball World Cup will be against England, meaning Brownie could face Team Bath Netball colleague Stacey Francis. She was named in the England squad last week along with seven former Team Bath players.

Jones and Francis will also meet next week when Wales face England in a Netball World Cup warm-up game. It is taking place at Merthyr Leisure Centre on Wednesday, July 8 (7pm).
