British record boost for sprinter Sophie Kamlish ahead of IPC World Championships
University of Bath-based sprinter Sophie Kamlish continued her countdown to next month’s IPC World Athletics Championships by setting a new British record at the Newham Open & Parallel Success event on Saturday.
The 19-year-old T44 100m runner, coached by Rob Ellchuk at the Sports Training Village, took one-hundredth of a second off her personal best when she crossed the line in 13.44 – the third-fastest time in the world this year.
Training partner Paul Blake, who is also heading to the IPC World Championships in Doha, was third in his 400m race in 56.60.
