Sailing students breeze to first-ever victory at BUCS Fleet Racing Championships

07 November 2016

Students Matt Lulham-Robinson and Ellie Devereux secured the University of Bath Sailing Club’s first-ever victory at the BUCS [British Universities & Colleges Sport] Fleet Racing Championships when the event took place this weekend.

Lulham-Robinson and Devereux (13721), studying Natural Sciences and Physics respectively, braved the 1-degree waters and 30mph winds to come home a fantastic first out of 27 crews contesting the Slow Handicap category at Draycote Water in Warwickshire.

It was an excellent weekend for the University of Bath, who finished sixth overall in the men’s team competition and seventh in the women’s team.
