Students are Barcelona bound for Junior European Modern Pentathlon Champs

14 June 2017

Five University of Bath students have been named in the Pentathlon GB squad for the 2017 Junior European Championships, taking place in Barcelona, Spain later this month.

Charlie Follett, Georgia Pipes, Sarah Collin, Bradley Sutton and Jamie Harper are joined in the squad by Myles Pillage and Holly Parker, who also train at Pentathlon GB’s National Training Centre at the Sport Training Village.

Sutton and Collin (pictured), who both study Sport Performance, are supported by Santander and Thompson Sports Scholarships respectively. They are also supported by the Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme (TASS), as are Follett (Psychology) and Harper (Sport Performance).

Barcelona will be the first major international championship appearance at any level for Collin, who marked her return from a long injury lay-off by competing at the Milan Kadlec Memorial in the Czech Republic last month.

Sociology student Pipes is making her third appearance at the European Juniors, while Follett competed at the World Juniors in 2016.

This year’s competition runs from June 25 to July 1.
