Bath Rugby select University quartet for Singha Premiership Rugby 7s at Franklin’s Gardens

28 July 2017

Four University of Bath students will wear the famous Blue, Black and White of Bath Rugby in this weekend’s Singha Premiership Rugby 7s.

Jordan Ainslie, Levi Davis (pictured), Will Flinn and Tom Kynge have all been named in a youthful 12-man Bath squad for the competition, taking place at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton on Friday and Saturday.

Ainslie is an England 7s contracted player who has competed in the 2017 Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series and is starting a Sport & Social Sciences undergraduate degree at the University in September.

Sport Performance student Davis, supported by a Trendell Sports Scholarship, is an England U18 winger who has already represented Bath United in the Aviva A League.

Davis, flanker Kynge, who recently graduated in Economics, and half-back Flinn, who studies Sports Performance, were part of the University men’s 1st XI that competed in the BUCS Super Rugby league last season.

Bath Rugby are in Group C with Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors. The groups will be contested on a round-robin basis on Friday, with the top two in each group playing Cup quarter-finals on Saturday. The winners will progress in the Cup competition and the losers will play off for the Plate, while the bottom team from each group will contest the Bowl.

Three other students will represent the England Injured Players Foundation when the iPro Sport Super Sevens Series comes to the Recreation Ground in Bath on Saturday.

Centre Craig Duncan (Natural Sciences), scrum-half Jack London (Accounting and Finance) and winger Jake Allen (Sports Performance) will all feature for what is effectively an England Students side.
