Another golden moment for sporting scholar Tim Nurse as GB Hockey retain Sultan of Johor Cup in dramatic style
University of Bath sporting scholar Tim Nurse is celebrating after helping Great Britain Hockey U21s retain the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia.
It is the third successive year that the Sports Performance student, who is supported by a King Sports Scholarship, has represented his country at the international competition and he now has two gold and a silver to show for his efforts.
Ian Cordwell, Hockey Development Manager at the University of Bath, said: “Tim is a very inspiring player and a role model for all at the club. His ambition is to eventually compete at the Olympic Games and achievements like these can help him on his way. He is incredibly hard-working and deserves this success.”
This year’s triumph was sealed by a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over India in the final, with former Team Bath Buccaneers player Stuart Rushmere bagging both British goals – the winner coming with just three seconds left on the clock.
