Liam Broady through to second round at Wimbledon in style as Team Bath Tennis ace Samantha Murray-Sharan returns to famous courts

29 June 2021

Liam Broady produced a brilliant performance on the opening day of Wimbledon 2021 to reach the second round of the men’s singles for the first time in six years.

The touring professional, coached by Team Bath Tennis’s Dave Sammel, continued his fine form this year with a 6-3 6-4 6-0 victory over Italy’s Marco Cecchinato on No 3 Court.

Broady saved a break point in the opening game before taking one at 4-3 and went on to serve out the first set. He also claimed a crucial break late in the second set before wrapping up victory in style.

He will now face either ninth seed Diego Schwartzman or Benoit Paire in the second round.
