Modern pentathlon Olympic Champion Kate French shortlisted for Sportswoman of the Year accolade in The Sunday Times awards

Olympic Champion Kate French has been shortlisted in the prestigious Sportswoman of the Year category in The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2021.

French, who trains at the University of Bath with Pentathlon GB, became the first British woman for 21 years to win modern pentathlon gold after producing a magnificent performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Joining her on a star-studded shortlist is weightlifter Emily Campbell, cyclist Laura Kenny, boxer Lauren Price, US Open tennis champion Emma Raducanu and 17-time Paralympic champion Dame Sarah Storey.

In contention for the Team of the Year award is an England Netball squad featuring Team Bath quartet Imogen Allison, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, Layla Guscoth and Roses captain Serena Guthrie, who have all recommitted to the Haines Watts-sponsored Blue & Gold for the 2021 Vitality Superleague season.
