Gold, silver and bronze for University of Bath student-athletes at Southern Champs as alumna Jenny Nesbitt sets World standard

University of Bath students won a medal of each colour when they competed at the Southern Indoor Championships at Lee Valley Athletics Centre over the weekend.

Sport & Exercise Science student Jimmy Seacombe took gold in the men’s 400m (48.08), Economics student Abi Galpin was runner-up in the women’s 60m (7.47) and there was bronze in the women’s 400m for Amy Pye (55,96), who studies Biology.

Meanwhile, Sports & Social Sciences graduate Jenny Nesbitt set a new 3,000m personal best of 8:48.48 – inside the qualifying standard for next month’s World Indoor Championships in Serbia – as she placed ninth at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in New York.
