European U23 Champs next for Aleeya Sibbons after Bath sporting scholar makes her senior GB athletics debut

University of Bath sporting scholar Aleeya Sibbons will have another opportunity to impress on the international stage this summer after being selected for the European U23 Championships in Espoo, Finland.
The Architecture student, who is supported by a Santander Scholarship and trains with the University’s student athletics squad, will represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland in both the 100m and women’s 4x100m relay when the event takes place from 13-16 July.
She booked her spot by winning the 100m title at the England Athletics U23 Open Championships in Chelmsford, clocking 11.46 (pictured centre on the podium).
Sibbons made her senior international debut over the weekend at the European Team Championships in Silesia, Poland. She ran well on the anchor leg in the 4x100m relay heats, clocking 10.37 for her split as she brought the quartet home in fourth.
However, a very tight baton infringement on the first changeover resulted in a disqualification for the team of Cassie-Ann Pemberton, Amy Hunt, Alyson Bell and Sibbons, all of whom are part of the relay squad for the European U23s.
