28 January 2025

Six University of Bath students have been selected for the 2025 U20 Men’s Six Nations, with four of them being named in England’s match-day 23 for the tournament’s opening fixture against Ireland.

Tighthead prop Billy Sela (Sports Performance), who helped England win the title in 2024, lines up in the front row alongside Sports Management and Coaching student Kepu Tuipulotu.

The hooker will earn his first U20 cap in Thursday’s international, as will Economics with Politics student Charlie Griffin who starts on the wing.

Also in line for his first cap is Hudson Powell scholar Aiden Ainsworth-Cave, who studies International Development with Economics and is among the replacements.

The match at Cork’s Virgin Media Park will kick-off at 7.45pm and is being streamed live on BBC iPlayer.

Sports Management and Coaching student Jack Woods has been named in the Wales U20 Six Nations squad and Italy have selected Sports Performance student Enoch Opoku Gyamfi. They start their tournaments against France and Scotland respectively.

All six players have represented the University men’s 1st XV in BUCS Super Rugby.

Natural Sciences first-year student Jess Doyle, a Bill Burden Scholar who plays for the University women’s 1st XV, has been selected in the England U20 Women’s Six Nations training squad.  The full-back represented the Roses in the U18 tournament last year.
