Bath sporting scholar Justin Davies strikes gold at UK Athletics Indoor Championships to secure place in GB team for Apeldoorn Europeans

University of Bath sporting scholar Justin Davies continued his excellent season by winning 800m gold in fine style at the 2025 Microplus UK Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham.
Sunday’s success, which followed on from Davies setting a new Welsh record of 1:45.78 the previous week at the inaugural Keely Klassic, secured the Team Bath AC runner a trip to the Netherlands for the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships, taking place in Apeldoorn from 6-9 March.

Biomedical Sciences student Davies, who is coached by Martin Rush and supported by an Alumni Fund scholarship, ran an excellent race at the Utilita Arena, hitting the front with 300m to go before finishing nearly a second clear of a tightly-grouped field to win his first senior British title in 1:47.26.
Fellow student Basil Rock, a bronze-medallist for Bath at BUCS Nationals the previous week, ran a new indoor personal best of 1:49.68 in the 800m heats.
Goldsmith Sporting Scholar Luke Ball, fresh from winning the BUCS Nationals high jump title, was sixth at the UK Indoor Championships with a 2.07m clearance.
