Student-athlete Mack Downey wins U23 gold at 2025 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships
University of Bath student-athlete Mack Downey produced an excellent all-round performance to win the U23 Men’s title at the 2025 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
The Management with Marketing student, coached by Jack Hall at the Bath Triathlon Performance Centre, produced the joint-fastest opening 5km run of 14:46 and had a narrow lead after the 30km bike ride before pulling clear on the final run to finish 41 seconds ahead of his nearest rival in a total time of 1:15:15.
That performance also ranked Downey – supported by the Team Bath Breakthrough Programme – ninth in the Elite Men rankings, less than a minute behind race winner Benjamin Choquert of France.
