Six University of Bath students selected for World Rugby Junior World Champs as Vilikesa Sela all set for first senior England run-out

18 June 2026

Connor Treacey will once again wear the captain’s armband after being named among five University of Bath students in the England U20 Men’s squad for the 2026 World Rugby Junior World Championship in Georgia.

Team Bath Breakthrough student-athlete Enoch Opoku-Gyamfi will also represent Italy at the Championships, which get under way on Saturday 27th June.

Sport Management and Coaching student Treacey, who captained England during this year’s U20 Six Nations, will be competing at his second Junior World Championships as will Tyler Offiah (Politics and International Relations) and Aiden Ainsworth-Cave (International Development with Economics).

Tate Williams (Sport Management and Coaching) – who, like Ainsworth-Cave is supported by a Hudson Powell Sporting Scholarship – and Sam Winters (Management) are also in the squad.

All five were part of the University of Bath men’s 1st XV squad that won the BUCS Super Rugby league and cup double during the 2025-26 season, as was second-row Opoku-Gyamfi who will once again take to the field for Italy in Georgia.

England begin their Junior World Championships campaign against Ireland on the opening day (12.30pm BST), while Italy face Scotland (10am BST).

Meanwhile, Sports Performance student Vilikesa Sela is set to gain his first senior England experience after being named among the replacements for the non-capped match against a France XV in Vannes on Friday 19th (5.15pm BST).

Business graduate Max Ojomoh starts at outside centre and prop Sela is joined on the bench by Sports Performance graduate Jack Kenningham.
