Road to FISU Worlds in Canada starts at Team Bath for rowing trio
Three British Rowing athletes are using the University of Bath this week as a training base ahead of this summer’s FISU World University Championships in Canada, thanks to support provided through Team Bath’s long-standing partnership with the GB Rowing pathway programme.
Molly Curry, Ellie Dash and recent University of Bath graduate Rebekah Court are staying on campus and training at the Sports Training Village before travelling to represent Great Britain at the international competition.
Tom Selby, Performance Development Coach for British Rowing, said: “It’s really valuable to be part of a partnership with Team Bath where not only are we able to use high-quality performance facilities but also that they are able to provide support with high-end accommodation.
“The athletes have benefited from accommodation on campus and access to the University’s Sports Training Village facilities, enabling them to maintain their preparations in a high-performance environment before competing on the international stage.
“The appreciation from the GB Rowing Team to Team Bath goes without question and recognises the strong desire to support performance from this institution to all high-performance athletes.”
The support forms part of the close relationship between the University of Bath and British Rowing’s South West Performance Development Academy (PDA), which develops athletes who go on to represent Great Britain at senior international level.
The FISU World Championships take place in Ontario, Canada from August 13 to August 15, 2026.
Several current and former South West PDA athletes are also set to compete internationally this season, including Jamie Gare, who has been selected in the men’s double sculls for the European Rowing Championships, while Minerva Bath’s Josh Knight and University of Bath graduate Cedol Dafydd are provisionally selected for the World Championships.
