Brilliant bronze for Pentathlon GB’s Ross Charlton and Emma Whitaker at 2026 European Senior Championships in Turkey
Ross Charlton and Emma Whitaker won mixed team relay bronze for University of Bath-based Pentathlon GB at the 2026 European Senior Championships in Istanbul.
The University graduates, who won continental silver on the European Junior stage in 2022, were eighth after the fencing but moved through the field with the third-fastest obstacle course time (1:01.63).
A solid time of 54.32 for the swimming meant they were fourth going into the laser-run but they quickly moved into the podium places and went on to record the second-quickest time of 12:22, leaving them 20 seconds clear of the chasing pack in third behind Russia and Hungary.
Whitaker was also Pentathlon GB’s top-ranked individual performer as she placed eighth in the women’s final. Liv Green was 11th and Chloe Johnson, in only her second senior competition, placed 27th overall as GB finished fourth in the women’s team rankings.
