Another World Rowing Champs medal for Bath graduate Cedol Daffyd as Josh Knight achieves impressive top-five finish on debut
University of Bath graduate Cedol Daffyd made it two medals from as many World Rowing Championships after winning men’s quadruple sculls bronze at the 2026 edition in Amsterdam.
Daffyd, who took up rowing while studying Sports Management and Coaching at the University and is in his second senior season, teamed up with Callum Dixon, Tobias Schröder and Rory Harris to secure a hard-fought third place behind Italy and Germany in a lightning-fast final.
“I think we had a really good race, I don’t know if we could have done any more on the day,” said Harris who, along with Daffyd and Dixon, had won quad silver 12 months earlier.
Dafydd developed his rowing career with the British Rowing South West GB Performance Development Academy (PDA) based at the University and Minerva Bath RC, as did Josh Knight who raced at a senior World Rowing Championships for the first time.
He finished his debut senior international season ranked fifth in the world for the men’s double after a brave race with Matt Haywood. The duo were coached by Dan Harris, who is based at the University as British Rowing’s Senior Performance Development Coach.
The South West GB PDA is always on the lookout for athletes with no prior rowing experience, aged between 14 and 22, to recruit and develop into Olympians. The guideline minimum height for those applying for testing is above 5ft 8in (176cm) for females and 6ft (185cm) for males. Click here to find out how to apply for trials.
