26 October 2016

Promising young judoka from the West of England got to train alongside Olympians and international medallists when the University of Bath Sports Training Village hosted a Judo Development Camp on Tuesday.

The half-term holidays allowed youngsters in the Western Area Development Squad and members of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sports Excellence (AASE) programme to take to the mat with Team Bath’s high-performance group of GB judoka including Ben Fletcher, who fought at Rio 2016.

They also enjoyed an evening training session alongside the University’s Student Club, with nearly 100 judoka being put through their paces in the dojo during the day.

High Performance Judo Coach Juergen Klinger said: “It was great to see so many people of different levels of experience training alongside each other. There was a real buzz in the dojo and we plan to have more days like this in the future.”
