Trio of alumni ready for French test as England Women start Six Nations campaign

University of Bath alumni Natasha Hunt, Izzy Noel-Smith and Amy Wilson Hardy will all start for England Women in Saturday’s televised Six Nations opener against France. 

Sarah Hunter, who trains at the Sports Training Village, will captain an experienced Red Roses squad that can boast 994 international caps between them.

The match will take place at Twickenham at 7.35pm, immediately after the men’s fixture against France, and will be televised on Sky Sports Mix.

Wilson Hardy, who graduated in Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Engineering in 2015, returns to international 15-a-side rugby after a successful stint in Sevens that included representing Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Hunt also competed in Brazil and studied Coach Education & Sports Development at the University, as did Noel-Smith who teaches at The Paragon School in Bath.

All three represented the University of Bath Women’s Rugby team in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions and were supported by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).

Caryl Thomasm who has been University of Bath Women’s Rugby Head Coach since 2009, is also in the Wales starting XV for their opening Six Nations match against Italy on Saturday (2pm).
