More England international recognition for University of Bath-based hockey players
Several University of Bath-based hockey players have been selected to represent England Hockey during the Easter period.
Anna Reynolds, a Social Sciences second-year student, has been selected to play for England Women U21s in their four Easter Weekend clashes against the United States at Bisham Abbey.
Sport & Exercise Science student Maria Jones is a reserve for the England squad, who will be in action on Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Both Reynolds and Jones play for the University of Bath in BUCS [British Universities & Colleges Sport] competitions and helped Team Bath Buccaneers Ladies gain promotion to the Investec Women’s National Hockey League (pictured).
It has been an excellent year for the hockey programme at the University of Bath, with Sport Performance student and Trendell Sports Scholar Peter Scott making his senior debut for England’s men alongside fellow Team Bath Buccaneers player Liam Sanford.
Scott, who has now been confirmed as a part-time member of England’s senior training programme, will return to U21 action over the Easter period alongside fellow student Harry Skinner as they travel to Vienna to face Austria in three matches.
Will Hewer will captain an England U18 side featuring fellow Buccaneers player Stuart Rushmere when compete in three games against the Netherlands at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. Jody Paul, Head Coach of the University and Buccs, will also perform that role for the U18s.
Junior player Will Prentice – who has been with Buccs since the age of nine – has been selected to make his England U16B debut in a series of matches against Northern Ireland, taking place at Lilleshall from April 29 to May 1.
