Two medals and a national record for swimmer Filippos Iakovidis at 2019 Small States of Europe Games

Team Bath Dual Career swimmer Filippos Iakovidis won two medals and set a new national record while representing Cyprus at the 2019 Small States of Europe Games in Montenegro this week.

The University of Bath Sport & Exercise Science student, who is coached by Mark Skimming, was runner-up in the 100m backstroke in a Cypriot-best time of 57.22 on Wednesday.

Iakovidis then set a new personal best of 26.74 as he finished fourth in the 50m backstroke before leading Cyprus off in the men’s 4x100m medley relay final, where they took bronze in 3:49.73.

The next major international competition for Iakovidis is the 2019 World University Games in Turin, Italy.
