University of Bath student Katie Scott claimed the first gold-level tournament singles title of her career when she came out on top at the Badminton England Nottinghamshire Senior Gold.

The Team Bath Dual Career athlete, who studies Psychology, beat Amy Hayhoe 23-21 24-22 in a hard-fought final having previously overcome Jessica Allen 21-18 21-15, Leona Lee 13-21 21-13 21-12 and Kiara Henry 21-11 21-8.

Peter Bush, Head Badminton Coach at the University, said: “Katie’s previous best in gold-level tournaments was the semi-finals, so this is quite an achievement and should give her some confidence for this week’s BUCS Championship knockout quarter-final tie against a very strong Birmingham team.”
