Double delight at Suffolk Senior Silver for Bath badminton player Katie Scott as scholar Will Jones reaches last eight in Portugal

17 March 2022

University of Bath student Katie Scott brought home two titles when she visited Ipswich to compete in the Suffolk Senior Silver badminton competition.

Scott, who studies Psychology and is coached by Peter Bush at the Team Bath Sports Training Village, didn’t drop a set all weekend as she won both the women’s singles and women’s doubles.

A 21-17 21-10 victory over Chloe Dennis secured the singles title, while Scott and partner Jessica Li – a University of Bath alumna who competed at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games – beat second seeds Lynne Swan and Caroline Westley 21-11 21-15 in the doubles final.

Sports Performance student Will Jones, who is supported by a Santander Sports Scholarship, was in action at the Portugal International Championships in Caldas da Rainha.

He and mixed doubles partner Elizabeth Tolman took out a strong Hong Kong pair before narrowly losing out in the quarter-finals to a Chinese Taipei pair who went on to win the tournament.
