Wheelchair fencers based at the University of Bath won four gold medals and a silver during another hugely-impressive weekend at the IWASF Leaning Tower World Cup in Pisa, Italy.

Dimitri Coutya topped the podium in every event he contested, dominating both the Category B epee and foil competitions before joining forces with training partners Piers Gilliver, Oliver Lam-Watson and Joshua Waddell to win the men’s team foil title.

Paralympic Champion Gilliver also claimed gold in the Category A epee and silver in the sabre, narrowly losing out 15-11 in a well-contested final.

The EIS World-Class Wheelchair Fencing programme, coached by Peter Rome, is based at the Team Bath Sports Training Village and its athletes have won a multitude of medals in recent years including gold at the Paralympic Games and back-to-back World Championships.
