Bath student Emma Whitaker and graduate Joe Choong win Pentathlete of the Year honours at UIPM 2022 Annual Awards

University of Bath-based Olympic Champion Joe Choong and sporting scholar Emma Whitaker have both won Athlete of the Year honours in the UIPM 2022 Annual Awards for modern pentathlon.
Choong – who studied Mathematics at the University, where he trains with Pentathlon GB – was named as Best Senior Male Pentathlete after winning the World Championship for the first time in July, completing his set of global titles.
Sports Performance student Whitaker, supported by a Santander Sporting Scholarship, is the Best Junior Female Pentathlete of 2022 after winning bronze on her senior World Cup debut in Egypt plus mixed relay gold and recording a top-five individual finish at last month’s Junior World Championships in Poland.
