Team Bath Tennis players help GB secure another podium placing at 2024 Master’U BNP Paribas tournament in France

01 December 2024

Esther Adeshina, Finn Bass and James Story have continued a proud tradition of Team Bath Tennis players contributing to British success at the world’s biggest student tennis team tournament.

They were part of a six-strong British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) squad that won silver at the Master’U BNP Paribas tournament in Reims, France after a top-quality competition featuring the eight top nations from around the world.

It was a seventh medal in as many years for the British team and a second successive silver for Adeshina and Bass, who had also competed at the 2023 event.

GB started their 2024 campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Belgium but had to battle for their place in the final, securing a 4-3 win against Australia thanks to success in the decisive mixed doubles for Adeshina and Liam Hignett.

The United States once again proved too strong in the final, winning 4-1, but it was another impressive tournament for a British squad coached by Alistair Higham and former Team Bath Director of Tennis Barry Scollo.

Adeshina, Bass and Story are all members of Team Bath’s Pro tennis team and are coached by Ian MacDonald and Tiernan Brady at the Team Bath Sports Training Village.
