Past and present Bath student hockey players named in Wales senior women’s squad ahead of busy international summer

06 June 2025

Breakthrough Programme student-athlete Katie Partridge and University of Bath alumna Emily Drysdale have both been selected in the Hoci Cymru (Wales Hockey) senior women’s squad for the 2025-26 season.

They have a busy summer ahead, starting with the first-ever edition of the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup 2 – taking place in Poland from 16-22 June – where Sport and Exercise Science student Partridge (pictured) is set to make her senior international debut.

She has been a key member of the University’s hockey squad for the past four years and, having previously represented Team Bath Buccaneers, this season helped Reading win the England Hockey Premier Division Final – their first trophy since 2013.

Wimbledon player Drysdale, who played hockey at the University during the 2022-23 season while studying for a Masters degree in Applied Clinical Psychology, is also in the 18-player Nations Cup squad. Both she and Partridge will hope to represent Wales at the Women’s EuroHockey Championship in Germany this August too.

Partridge is among more than 160 student-athletes at the University of Bath who received bespoke support this year to maximise their academic and sporting potential through the Student Performance Sport Breakthrough Programme, sponsored by Team Bath partners Rengen.
