Crew Bath’s Cedol Dafydd helps GB Rowing Team secure overall World Cup title with quad gold

30 June 2025

University of Bath graduate Cedol Dafydd helped Great Britain secure the 2025 World Rowing Cup overall title after winning another gold with the men’s quadruple scull in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The Crew Bath rower and team-mates Callum Dixon, Matt Haywood and Rory Harris produced a superb sprint finish to overhaul Poland, who had led for the first three-quarters of the final, and take the victory – their second of 2025 following their success at the European Championships.

With the quad having also won bronze at the previous World Cup in Varese, despite a last-minute crew change when Tom Barras replaced the ill Dixon for the final, it means that Dafydd and his team-mates have made a big contribution to GB’s overall tally of 72 World Cup points.

It continues an impressive first full senior season for Dafydd, who took up rowing with the University of Bath-based South West GB Performance Development Academy (PDA) while studying Sports Management and Coaching.

The PDA is always on the lookout for athletes with no prior rowing experience, aged between 14 and 22, to recruit and develop into Olympians. The guideline minimum height for those applying for testing is above 5ft 8in (176cm) for females and 6ft (185cm) for males. Click here to find out how to apply for trials.
