Rising rugby star Enoch Opoku-Gyamfi named as Rengen Athlete of the Month after making senior international and PREM Rugby debuts

30 March 2026

After making his senior international debut for Italy and PREM Rugby bow for Bath Rugby, Enoch Opoku-Gyamfi has been named as the latest Team Bath Rengen Athlete of the Month.

The Sports Performance student, who is supported by the Team Bath Breakthrough Programme, became Azzuri international #752 when he came on for Italy during their Quilter Nations Series victory over Chile in November.

The powerful forward, who can play in the second or back row, then enjoyed another milestone moment when he started for Bath Rugby in January’s PREM Rugby win against Exeter Chiefs at The Rec.

February saw Opoku-Gyamfi earn three more U20 Six Nations caps for Italy and he is now back with the title-winning University of Bath men’s 1st XV for the Milk Championship knockout competition, his two tries sparking a comeback from 27-0 down to beat Cardiff in the quarter-finals last week.

“I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved in these couple of months and I’m very happy to celebrate this achievement with my family and friends,” he said.

“My Italy international debut was great, I really enjoyed it. I made new friends on my journey, got to know a few more people and new coaches. Obviously the Bath Rugby debut was probably one of the best days of my life, a dream come true.”

Opoku-Gyamfi was presented with the February award and a Built For Athletes backpack by University of Bath Director of Sport Stephen Baddeley and Iestyn Lewis, CEO of Rengen which supports both the Athlete of the Month award and the Breakthrough Programme. The presentation took place at Rengen House, the company’s Bath city centre headquarters on Argyle Street which provides a friendly, flexible space for co-working, meetings and events.
