Netballer Sophie Kelly named University of Bath Sports Personality of the Year 2026 at Blues Awards student sport celebration
Netballer and sporting scholar Sophie Kelly has been voted by her fellow students as the University of Bath’s Sports Personality of the Year 2026.
The Bill Whiteley Scholar, who will complete her Management degree course this summer, was presented with the accolade at the 2026 Blues Awards, The SU Bath’s annual celebration of student sport which took place at the Roman Baths and Pump Room.
It is the latest success for former Team Bath Netball goal-attack Kelly, who won the 2025 Netball Super League title with London Pulse and helped England U21s to bronze at last year’s Netball World Youth Cup. The award also recognises her contribution to the University netball club, including coaching a development team and supporting younger athletes.
Also shortlisted for the Sports Personality of the Year award were GB swimmer Cam Brooker (Mechanical Engineering), an Ivor Powell Scholar and winner of 41 BUCS medals; Jonny Gough (Mathematics), who was named as SU Sport Volunteer Coach of the Year for his work with the karate club; and Wales rugby international Mollie Wilkinson (International Development with Economics), who has helped to increase female participation and representation in the student rugby club.
The Blues Awards is an annual University of Bath event which The SU Bath [Students Union] and Department for Sports Development and Recreation [Team Bath] support together. Click here to see a full list of winners.
