Two more golds for Dimitri Coutya as Bath-based Brits win five medals at Para Fencing World Cup in Florida

01 June 2026

University of Bath-based Dimitri Coutya took his gold-medal tally for the 2026 Para Fencing World Cup season to six by securing two more titles when Bradenton, Florida hosted the third competition of the year.

The double Paralympic Champion claimed a third successive Category B foil victory in dominant fashion, conceding just 19 hits across three knockout rounds before defeating Thailand’s Chitipat Charoenta 15-4 in the final.

That came a day after the pair had also met in the Category B epee gold-medal match, Coutya coming out on top 15-12 on that occasion.

An absorbing Category A epee competition saw Piers Gilliver win bronze and Oliver Lam-Watson place fifth after both were edged out 15-14, in the semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively, by eventual champion Emanuele Lambertini of Italy.

Gemma Collis also won bronze in the women’s Category A epee, her excellent run only being ended by a 15-12 defeat to gold-medallist Xufeng Zou in the semi-finals.

Collis, Coutya and Lam-Watson then teamed up with Emily Holder to win bronze in the new mixed foil event, Italy narrowly defeating the British quartet 20-18 in the last four.

The final Para Fencing World Cup of the season is taking place in Pattaya City, Thailand from 30th August to 2nd September.
